My (Paula's) paintings are around 15cm x 25cm and are oil pastel on paper. The paintings are two dimensional interpretations of the same motivating vision underlying my three-dimensional ceramics. The paintings stand on their own but also perfectly complement the ceramic pieces when placed side-by-side. I began with rather sombre colours (echoing the palette of the ceramics) but became excited and intoxicated with the ever increasing possibilities that each additional layer of colour presented, creating hard and soft edges, harmonies and contrasts.
