My (Paula's) hand built ceramics vary in height from 15 cm to over 150 cm and are built using techniques in use since the 11th millennium BC (3000 years before discovery of the wheel!). I use very few tools and hand build my pieces mainly through coiling and slab building techniques. These ancient, traditional methods directly connect me with the earth while the Cornish landscape provides inspiration reaching across human history from the Neolithic to medieval to modern times. My work has evolved through studying the 'marks on the landscape': the standing stones, mine stacks, ancient sites and the culture they supported along with the rugged Cornish coastline.
Please contact us if you are interested in acquiring any of the pieces.
